The Escort was made in 2006 and is a model without TSR capability (NOTE that newer X50s may perform better with newer firmware versions). This is not meant to be a direct comparison as much as it is to illustrate the difficulty in detecting these relatively new cameras that have been sweeping the nation. In this case, the Escort 8500 X50 would not prevent a driver from a ticket from this type of speed camera, which is ultra low voltage, 33.8 GHz Ka-band, with a very narrow radar spread. The only detectors that I have seen do these 'well' is the V1, Escort Redline and 9500ci, Bel STi Driver and STi R Plus. I have watched Cobra, Whistler, lower end Bel, and K40 models go past these things without any alert whatsoever. When they do alert, it is nothing more than a ticket notifier. These cameras are VERY difficult to detect and this shows why it is worth to save money up for a higher end unit. The warning distance you see with the V1 is as good as it gets. The Escort Redline delivers similar warning distances.
